Two Weeks In (already!)

Yes. School has been in session for two weeks already. Along with all of the typical new school year stuff -- reviewing rules and expectations, paperwork, placement tests -- we have had some special activities.

Mr. Cavenas started his Life Skills class off by making Ice-Cream in a Ziploc bag.

Students studies Oaths, Creeds, and other Values Oriented writings in an investigation and self assessment of what characteristics are common is successful students. They are using this research to create their own Creed for this school year. While reading they would assume roles and act out how a written piece might have been presented.

Students have also been building model rockets while they study basic laws of motion.

Revised Daily Schedule

Current Daily Schedule

The preferred method of education, in accordance with PA Dept. of Education Guidance, is In-Person learning. Compass Academy will continue to operate primarily as an In-Person program and students are expected to attend. The "Remote Learning" option is for special circumstances as deemed appropriate.

The day-to-day schedule has been modified slightly so that we can better meet behavioral and academic goals.

The "Remote Learning" Schedule is on the Academy Website on the "Distance Learning" tab.

The biggest change is that Math has been moved to the morning. Remote Learning students will need to complete their math independently, however, staff will be available in ZOOM during the scheduled Math time.

Students attending remotely are to be in the ZOOM Rooms from 9:30 until dismissed and from 1:15 until 2:00.

New Year - Out with the Old

The Mount Carmel program was closed last year. Staff and students made some great memories there. To preserve some of those memories, some of the posts from the Mount Carmel Website have been archived on this site. You can quickly find these posts by searching the tag "MCArchive".
